Fold: Something Gives

from #MoreInCommon HOPE not hate by Various Artists

/

about

Now in its fourth year the core line up of experimental Leeds based quartet consists of Seth Mowshowitz (benevolent dictator, beats, keys & guitar) Kane Rattray (drums), Ben Walsh (bass) and Sam Hutchison (guitar).
In a vein similar to Public Enemy, DJ Shadow and more recently Public Service Broadcasting (a band that Fold have both remixed and supported) Fold carefully weave both the natural spoken rhythms and
eloquence of many voices past and present into a unique tapestry of hip hop, funk, jazz and psychedelic rock threads. Ranging from Bruce Lee to Malcolm X these voices each reflect on and bring to light
certain truths that reveal something of the state of the world from a part
icular perspective.
Fold have garnered extraordinary radio support particularly from BBC 6 Music care of Gideon Coe, Huey Morgan, Don Letts and even Lauren Laverne (this one time). Other supporters have
included Dave Rowntree (Blur's drummer) and John Kennedy on Radio X, Charlie Ashcroft et al on Amazing Radio and a
host of regional characters including Alan Raw of BBC Radio Leeds. The band have also featured in The Guardian, NME and The Times to name but a few publications.
